The only time it worked for me was in The Hunt for Red October when Marko Ramius (Sean Connery) is speaking in Russian to Captain Borodin (Sam Neill). As the camera slowly zooms into their moving lips, the Actors seamlessly switch to English. Brilliant!

Just hire native Russian-speaking actors (we have many very talented people) and let them speak in their native language with English subtitles below.

Exactly. Or find somebody bilingual with normal Russian and English pronounce. Or just hire two voice actors for dubbing in postproduction.

Interesting, that in low-budget US and Canada series you could find Russian-speaking actors (from X-Files to Limitless), but not in the something more expensive.

The only explanation I could think out, is that even minor roles in high budget movies could be taken only by people from their circle and not available for somebody outside.
