KJV can be a bit confusing as even though it’s English it still can have different understandings of how we use words. Which is why it may be good to refer to other translations as well.

Meaning that the serpents attempt to defeat will cause some injury such as a bruised heel, but that same injury will be caused by his head being crushed fatally.
Ultimately the serpent has already been defeated in Christ. For us constrained by time, it is yet to fully play out.
Other interpretations can also refer to specifically ‘The seeds’. Meaning the seed of the woman is ‘Christ’, and the seed of the serpent refers specifically to a literal offspring of the serpent. "Truth" is the only word I've found that you can swap for "God" and still have the book make any sense.
