Honestly I don't think they (the demiurge) "needs" our energy for anything. I think they are just straight up choosing to be evil for evils sake. They like it. They are already infinitely powerful, having access infinite intelligence. But we are infinitely powerful as well. They (the demiurge) can't kill us, so the only way for them deal with any "threat" , anything that would make it act in a more positive direction, would be to contain that which would make you more positive. The only way to contain something infinitely powerful (you and I) is for it (us) to willingly choose to be contained.
Thus the reincarnation trap.
Now the trick is for us to fully "realize" that we are infinitely powerful. How one should go about doing that, I don't know. I've heard "ego death" but thats basically the death of your unique personality, which seems like a bullshit "solution" to me.
