The negatives you mentioned aren't from communication itself like I was talking about, they're specifically from social media. Social media is a manipulation of the improved ability to communicate which has been designed as a tool by the people in power to destroy you by hyperfocusing on the negative aspects like narcissism.
Positive improvements on communication are what we are doing right now, discussing. I wouldn't have learned nearly this much about philosophy pre-internet era, I would have had no one I could find irl to discuss it with. Now I can find others in an instant and positively benefit myself and then others from my learning. And I do.
