Maybe more of what they have been doing already. They advertise to everyone that they need a bigger house than that small two bedroom you grew up in, so you upsize to a McMansion. Secondly, every divorced mother just has to have a place of her own. Kids...don't live with your parents until you're married. You need a place to party in and have lots of sexy sex. Oh, and the classic, make it so banks don't check papers and illegals buy houses too.
Maybe that's all played out though.
Anyway, how's the housing market in Japan, where this demographic winter has happened already.
Not Japanese but I do know that housing in Japan is dirt cheap compared to the West. It is a combination of several things.
Part of that is demographics, yes. But part of it is also that houses are considered more disposable over there and thus are built more cheaply. Supposedly it is common for a house to be demolished and replaced every three or four decades
Plus the houses in Japan are for the most part smaller than American houses so that drives down price of construction too.
