I got that it is a cover story. But cover story should be something obvious and usual everyone know that it is definitely possible. You can't use, f.e., alien abduction as cover story for swindle resigning. For me, an obligation of any employe to inform company about his intrigues with colleague for any reason is not very different from alien abduction. That is the question.
