Great article from the Federalist about the "limited hangout" a term for when politicians and public officials will admit to something they previously denied. Usually it's because they can no longer deny the truth, but they are trying to save the larger narrative.

My opinion is that the "cloth masks don't work" admission is because now there is an adequate supply of those N95 masks and they are going to try to push people to wear those.
