My family went grocery shopping this weekend. It’s a health food store and a smaller chain. For folks in the Midwest or Colorado, it’s similar to Vitamin Cottage. Anyways, we notice an uptick in mask wearing idiots again this weekend because omicron or whatever. Of course, no one in my family is masked or vaxxed. We had a lady quickly pull up her mask as she walked past us OUTSIDE. We all laugh at her as we pass by, loud enough for her to hear us, and we enjoy our shopping experience. We finally get to the checkout and see one younger guy, an employee at this store, not wearing a mask while checking people out. He’s happy, normal and has something in his eyes when he speaks. He isn’t just a drone or moron who trusts the science. We let people go ahead of us to check out so we can visit with this guy. He waves us over and we start having a fun, normal conversation with him as we bag groceries. We laughed and talked about normal things. No one in my family or the young employee ever mentioned COVID or masks or anything. We didn’t have to because no one in the group cares about the propaganda. He says he appreciated having a face-to-face conversation with someone else. My family did too.

The moral of the story is to try to make an effort to engage with normal people. If you see someone not masking, not cowering in fear as they go about their day, try to say hi or wave. I know other people saw us talking and enjoying conversation. Start flaunting it. Start mocking those who live in fear.
