I was making a sarcastic remark in response to the recent wave of hate speech that has taken over places that discuss conspiracies.
Reasons for doing this include:
It drives people away from these places with the idea that they are full of "deplorables," particularly women, people of color and sexual minorities. This has a devastating effect because of how profoundly this limits for all of us to find common ground.
It allows these places to be labelled as "extremist forums" and thus be subject (along with all of the participating users) to Internet censorship and scrutiny from law enforcement and anti-terror agencies.
It opens the door to dozens of academic research articles being written this year about the hate speech and calls to violence in these places. Their next step is to enact legislation to regulate them(i.e. shut them down). That will extend to all venues that don't have approved moderation (i.e. Ministry of Truth).
