If you are given anything that connects to the internet from work or school, it is not yours and it is not private. Believing it is or should be is naive and retarded. Hell, even the electronics you did buy is not private, believing it is or should be is naive and retarded. Act accordingly when on the internet or at least understand the consequences.
Communication between individuals, business matters, medical procedures, photographs of friends and family, what people read, who you associate with, and a large number of other things you can do with electronic devices should be private. We should take measures to ensure that they are. This is common sense and neither naive nor retarded.
Completely true, but if I were a frustrated student I'd have a little fun:
Send a message to a friend saying something like "March 3rd is the day."
Every couple days exchange cryptic messages like "You got the thing ready?" "Yeah." "Awesome. This is gonna be so big..."
As the date approaches, send more messages that are even more cryptic like "Raven has phoned home. We're a green light." "The spaghetti is in the pot." "The butter is on the bottom side of the bread."
Consider it a small victory if the principal calls you and your friend to the office separately. Consider it a huge victory if the school shuts down on the appointed day.

Completely untrue.
Even beyond that, if you're only connecting to their wifi network from your own device you should assume you're being monitored.
Yet another reason to run a VPN.
