android phones are actually the best to have. why? because you dont HAVE to be signed into google to use em. they can be degoogled. and you dont have to have a google account to set it up even . with apple iphone? you MUST HAVE an icloud account and use anything apple .there is NO choice.
Unfortunately that does not mean that they don't send everything they find on phone to google. Really, goolge don't need your google account to connect stolen data with you. IMEI and phone number is more than enough.
If you remove google play services and other google connected crap from your android phone ( or install, say, LineageOS without google services ), most apps, including all that social crap will stop working.
So, the real choice is a dumb non-smartphone (but modern ones still try to track you, sending data to some hosts without your knowledge, so, find an old good Motorola or Nokia) or use opensorce non-IOS non-Android smartphones like Pinephone or Librem where you have full control on everything.
