You’re absolutely correct. The framework of basic scientific epistemology isn’t even followed anymore. The four criteria for a scientific theory shown below aren’t even being followed for most ‘science’ done today. As you said, and in conjunction with the lack of the criteria below, they follow a religion.
Scientific Theory:
Mathematical Model consisting of variables and relations between the variables.
Operation definitions relating the variables to observable(and measurable) phenomena.
Validating experimental data: a set of future quantitative predictions derived from the theory and the corresponding measurements.
A statistical analysis supporting acceptance of the theory: it supports the concordance of the predictions with the physical
