This place is like fucking reddit with all of the "level headed" thinkers explaining away ideas in a conspiracy fourm. Go away and let us play.

Conspiracies are real, they are motivated by money, power, greed. Corruption is everywhere, so shine a light on it. But spewing nonsense like fake moon landings, hollow earth, and flat earth is retarded. Perhaps it is you that should go away and leave the people here who know what critical thinking is.

Meaning? What is the point?

permalink save report block reply
▲ 6 ▼
– HighFrequency 6 points 4 years ago +7 / -1

Meaning that there seems to be a whole lot of something being transported to/from Antartica.

Don't you find that curious?

Why would cargo ships be going there?

What could they possibly be delivering? (Or picking up?)

Supposedly there is nothing there, but flight traffic is banned over the continent and there are numerous rumors and reports of a massive underground installation and giant seed vault.

Seriously one cargo ship alone could supply thousands of people with supplies to last a year. People don't seem to grasp how much cargo a single, even a smaller, container ship can handle. Then look at something bigger like a cosco container ship. I don't even see a dock on that island but obviously lots of traffic.

Google is known to alter their satellite map images.

You're lying.

Satellite images are photoshopped.

You don't know that a host of countries have research stations in Antarctica?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Research_stations_in_Antarctica.

The giant seed vault is in Svalbard.

And here we are again. Ha!

But even with research stations that still seems like a helluva lot of cargo ships coming through.

Could you elaborate on this?

Basically there's more happening down that way than is led on. Can use Marinetraffic.com and Strava.com to get some ideas of stuff going on. Using Google earth it's ridiculous how much generic white blurred out and even black images you get around most of antarctica.

There's no reason to launch a satellite to cover down there and even most "satellite" map images are actually from aerial survey aircraft.

It's hard to say what we're seeing in your photo, but Deception Island with that big protect natural harbor seems like a great place for ships to ride out weather, especially since that whole passage down around the tip of South America can be absolutely brutal to cross with notoriously horrible weather and was a huge factor in the HMS Bounty and it's mutiny as they spent a month trying to get around the Horn, before the Captain said fuck it and instead sailed east instead of west.

OK, but they run site seeing tours through Deception Island. Those boats are just tourists thinking they got to see antarctic, when in fact they're just visiting an old abandoned port.

Since most of Antarctica is surrounded by impassible cliffs, this island is probably the only place for thousands of miles where ships can go to refuel or get repaired.

The name probably comes from how the bay inside the island is deceptively hidden.

the earth is flat. antarctica surrounds us.

If the earth were flat, I'd think it more likely that antarctica was at the center and arctic ocean surrounds us.

Compass? Doesn't point north. The short end of the needle is actually pointing at antarctica, in the center.

Northern lights? Might be a visual of some energy field at the edge of the world.

I don't believe any of this. Just some theories for fun.

I know the earth ain't flat 'cause time zones and relatives calling from the other side of the planet at night tell me it's day over there.

You’re clinically insane. Everything you believe is a lie.

Y'know I get where these people are coming from. One day you wake up and realize that nearly everything you've been taught to believe is a lie. So now you find yourself with no firm foundation to start building from so you go looking. But you start with the premise that everything you've been told is most likely a lie. So you look for the truth. And you find lots of people out there willing to tell you the truth. People that the authorities and experts you now know are all liars say are liars. So if a liar tells you someone is a liar who do you believe?

You have no actual way to verify any of the information anyone is telling you. You can't do calculus to experiment, you can't launch a rocket to space, you can't sail a ship around the world, and you can't fly a plane. So it's just different people telling you different versions of their truth.

Who do you believe? The people who have proven themselves liars or the people the liars claim are liars?

Don’t get me wrong; I’ve personally experienced the “life collapsed, everything was a lie, rebuild from here” thing. But where these people fall flat (no pun intended) on their faces is that in not having that information (as you described), they choose instead to not even bother trying to get it. They’re totally fine with willful ignorance because they’re too afraid of being lied to again to ever actually stand up for anything, least of all themselves.

And so yes, anyone who can’t do basic elementary school trigonometry or geometry is perfectly capable of thinking the Earth is flat. They just also need to be kept from voting and from leaving the insane asylum.

  1. It's a harbor
  2. It has multiple research stations
  3. Small areas are "touristy" using the abandoned posts and stations.
  4. Natural harbor.
  5. It's a caldera last active in the 60s which makes it a keen spot of scientific observation.

At least use some fucking critical thought and 3 minutes of research, damn.
