I've looked into it and, IMHO, there's no way to make nuclear energy safe. Plants are specifically designed to contaminate their environs with radioactive water, which then seeps into the aquifers. Not to mention, there is simply nowhere to dispose of the radioactive waste where it won't eventually get into the environment.

The only power plants that store months of fuel are coal and nuclear and dams. Everything else is just-in-time fuel delivery. Batteries are at best hours, not days or months.
The point seems to be to make the system unreliable, which drives a huge cost into the economy to cover for this unreliability.

Wind power and solar aren’t great in the winter, but they can be made to work. At the temperatures you’re seeing the batteries won’t have a problem, but the summer 5w30 that most people run will turn to molasses and that’s why starting is a problem. If you have no spark that battery was almost dead anyways.
This is going to a be a problem for poor people. And young people. Some of them want to be prepared but don’t have the means.hell, even living in the city in this weather with no power will be the end, for some.

Cold does effect engines. It takes some of the energy out of combustion.
Buy a block heater and better battery
