If you’ve got some time, read the wiki page for “kobol the planet” then after that watch the 4 season reboot of battle star galactica... if you don’t have time for that try and find a plot synopsis but I really recommend watching.
Thumbs up ? start with the miniseries I think it’s called, then s1, it’s like a big movie to start the series
