If I search 1984 the first result is the book. This is after deleting all my browser history and using a different browser even that I do not use, aka EDGE. So.... Looks like the search engine still works? Looks like 1984 is not being hidden. Looks like fake outrage and crafted narrative.
No one said that is was currently happening, it's just a prediction of what is about to come. Given Google's history of Orwellian censorship, and everything going on right now, it seems more likely than not that it will happen.

I have a better one, they wanted to make it in the 80s and 1984 sounds cool for marketing because everyone knows the year and it had nothing to do with hiding the book, in fact more people probably know it exists because of it.

I honestly can't believe I've never read this book (I'm 43 so it's kind of inexcusable). I just found it for free online as a pdf. I know what I'll be reading today, unless somehow that gets deleted too!
Read 1984, A brave new world, and Gulag Archipelago ASAP. Most are free online, they have audio book versions, and the paperbacks are quite inexpensive. Lots of parallels in this books to what's happening now.
Or just hang in there for the live action version that's outside right now.
