It is also the model Walmart used, to use the American manufacturers to grow business, then squeeze vendors for pennies, then shift product sourcing to China and f off the American suppliers.
Bezos, who owns the Washington Post, is both a capitalist and ultimately like a Communist in trying to make himself be the central supplier. The New World Order crowd wants centralization since once it is established and they control the government, they can nationalize and shift things to a communist central model upon which all citizens depend. This is why they want to put small businesses out of business with the covid lockdowns. Bezos knows this, and is probably ready to step dpwn with a lot of money at the right time. He is building a takeover engine and doesn't care that he is using semi-slave labor.
I started a new job in IT and going through all their stuff and just about everything is made in China. Even monitors made by Acer back in 2008 were made in China.
China gets subsidized shipping though which basically means even if we make it cheaper, they can still get it to us cheaper. I mean you can buy an iphone charger for 70 cents and free shipping from aliexpress while the same charger will run you $9 on amazon.

I agree. Amazon is the new Walmart, just upgraded in just about every way. And who’s going to stop them?
We are by not using them.
That's not enough for the same reason not using water bottles is magically making a dent in fixing the environment

Sad thing is there is no reason items couldn't be made cheaper in the US. Everything can be automated for cheaper than the cost of slave labor.

And that's a good reason to go back to raising revenue via tariffs instead of taxes.
Yes a (((chinese))) tool
He isn't chinese either :/
We were calling amazon a tool. Wasn't really talking about bezos.
Any recommendations for an ebay-like site? I have been buying old stuff from independent or seemingly independent sellers on ebay.

Heard this story a lot. Antitrust regulations need to be used to keep this international corporations under control.
The first victim was the physical book stores, then diapers.com, and ever since then it’s been part of Amazon’s DNA
Who is going to stop this? They'll just pay off the people that would fine them. Even then a little fine is nothing.
Whole Foods does this too with the 365 brand.
"Your margin is my opportunity."
“I constantly remind our employees to be afraid, to wake up every morning terrified."
amazon made them boat loads of cash where, otherwise, who knows if they would have.
