From there Trump emerged as the most popular of the three, so the media blacked out Bernie Sanders to give Trump ten times as much coverage and Hillary Clinton four times as much.

The Republicans tried to stop this by cheating during the primary but were unable to do so. The Democrats couldn't cheat big enough in the general election to win in 2016, so the media sharply changed their tone. It then became anti-Trump every news hour for the duration of his presidency. This was, of course, also orchestrated by the same people.
