Even if those frequencies cured cancer, it still wouldn't advance society overall to deploy them outside a hospital. It's bad enough that the 'millimeter wave' frequency spectrum is already in operation as a literal military pain-beam.
But the real 'advantage' of 5G is enough bandwidth, precision and speed to run the National Panopticon and track every person 24/7. 5G will power the "connected, self-driving" vehicle fleet, for complete coverage once you leave the range of your home Telescreen, toaster, night-light, electric-meter and lawn-sprinkler.
Every one of those transport pods will be scanning not only visually, but with radar, wifi and LIDAR at a range of hundreds of feet, "seeing through walls" and remembering what they 'see'. And of course terabytes of information will be flowing along those 'connections' for "traffic de-confliction", and other 'safety purposes'.
The fluffy, benign 'justification' is already being prepared: "Autonomous Car Tips off rescuers to lost child location!" Then it's just a short step to 'officer-safety' and "anti-terror".
