80 years is also the roughly the limit of generational memory. Those who have lived experience events leading to WWII are now pretty much gone. Those who are alive and have an understanding of those events will have learned about them from a book. It's not the same as lived experience and we're doomed to repeat the same mistakes.

Get everybody dependent on government again.

Economy was booming in 2019. Good economy = the people have power, makes politicians, whose only job it is to redistribute, useless. This also means diminishing prestige in political jobs. To add insult to injury, Trump had shown them all up, good economy + proved them all wrong, and Russia collusion, which was the establishments only hope of feeling they were always right about Trump being bad, just got proved a hoax.

To get people dependent on the government again, they needed to destroy small businesses. They hoped people would see this as Trump's fault but it seems to have backfired.

Those in political power, who have seen their power diminish through Trump's good economy, want there to be some comparative advantage to having political power. So all their friends to get break lockdown rules. Plebs get the police called on them.

Partly I think all these pointless lockdown rules are the establishment's reaction to being humiliated by Trump.

He dealt with mafia in the 70s and 80s. This is how you deal with mafia. He has learned from experience.

He refused a dose, saying he'll donate his dose (you know, like how he donates his salary (none of his predecessors did)). That's allow need to know.
