I can see them go across in my telescope on the regular and they aren't attached to balloons moving that fast. I can also see the space station on occasion. Modern cameras and image capture is pretty amazing with a good mount/scope. Helium can be used for more than balloon work too. Earth is not flat, I've been to 55k feet and seen the curve with my eyes.
