The economy had a lot to suffer under him, at least lately. US economy under Trump thrived.
Also, check out the crowds that gathered for his opponent last election, they were even bigger than this but he ended up with only 30% of the vote. Crowd size isn't the only thing that matter, and according to the vast majority of polls (including from the ones that consistently got it correctly) his opponent is ahead this time.
