The trio, jailed on Friday on suspicion of revealing a security secret, took to social media to tell their followers that the world is engaged in a top-secret, underground "tunnel war", which is also being waged by secret actors. The trio made it their mission to find out what was going on.

Niko Pyrhönen, a researcher specialising in conspiracy theories, told STT on Friday that he believed the trio were inspired by some of the conspiracy theories circulating in the US. However, he said it was an "exceptionally original" story.

However, somewhere along the way, Mikko Antero Vapa, 45, Marko Heikki Vapa, 45, and Anne Maria Oikarinen, 37, apparently revealed something sensitive because it led to their imprisonment.

STT exceptionally publishes the names of the suspects already at the pre-trial stage, as they are suspected of treasonable offences under the Criminal Code while they were candidates in the parliamentary elections.

I understand that they are also talking about tunnels that actually exist and are related either to Finland's security of supply plans or to civil protection. I don't know whether they may have accidentally revealed something that is classified or whether they have done so deliberately," Pyrhönen wondered.

I've watched their videos and they have been in different places, but I can't judge how far they have travelled in Finland. It could be that they have received tips from their audience on where to go to see.

"Small-scale operators"

In one of their YouTube videos, for example, they said they had seen with their own eyes in northern Finland a "tunnel whose entrance was guarded by reservists".

From Helsinki you can at least get to Ivalo (approximately 681.64 miles) via the tunnel, (and) all the tunnels lead to the world's parliament buildings, they claim. Pyrhönen believes the group was a small circle of actors with some hundreds of followers. Some, though, may have watched the videos in a whimsical way.

Conspiracy theories are alive and well, and they are constantly evolving, so they change," says Pyrhönen.

For example, you can announce that something significant will happen on a particular day, and then when it doesn't, you come up with an explanation. They also take content from the news cycle and constantly try to show that the things they say in the news are connected to their theories.

does twitter have a translate function?

There is a smaller link below the tweet saying "translate tweet" but Finnish is a hard language for machine translation.

All the Youtube videos have been taken down and also the Google map of the locations of the tunnel entrances & air inputs. However I found archieved image of the map of the locations shared by Twitter account GraviolaDOTfi:

Suspect #1: Mikko Vapa

I am Mikko Vapa, a 45-year-old Finnish four-sport champion and health technology entrepreneur living in Kajaani. I have a Master's degree in Information Technology from the University of Jyväskylä and I am currently also studying for a Master's degree in Information Systems Development at Tampere University of Applied Sciences. I am also an intelligence officer by military training and a top graduate of the Reserve Officer School from Lahti Sports School. My military rank is First Lieutenant. I have also published more than 10 scientific articles in the field of information technology. My family includes two children of my own, my fiancée Anne and Anne's daughter Essi plus my dog Luna, so the everyday life of a new family is familiar. My free time is spent on sports and mapping the Finnish tunnels. I'm pretty good at orienteering.

Suspect #2: Marko Vapa

Suspect #3: Anne Oikarinen

My name is Anne Oikarinen. I am a 37-year-old single parent living in Kajaani.

My hobbies besides other sports are dancing, singing and crafts. My favourite kind of dancing is Brazilian samba, which I have danced a couple of times at the Helsinki Samba Carnival. I am a civil engineer by education and an artisan in the clothing industry.

My current work and vocation is to do things for Finland. That means concretely that I run the Totuuden Etsijät YouTube channel and my own channel and create content for them. In these times, bringing the truth through alternative media channels is important, because unfortunately that is not what our media of power is providing.

In the autumn of 2021, I found a wonderful man, Mikko, with whom we share the daily life of a new family. The family includes my own daughter Essi, aged 8, Mikko's two children and the soon-to-be 13-year-old fur child Luna.

The Central Criminal Police (KRP) require three people to be detained on suspicion of revealing a security secret. The suspects are civilians who are suspected of posting information classified as secret on social media.

Jukka Nurmenniemi, the KRP's investigation director, tells STT that the suspects are civilians. Nurmenniemi would not comment on how they are suspected of having obtained classified information.

  • We suspect that the nature of the information released is such that it is likely to cause serious harm to Finland's security of supply, national defence and security," Nurmenniemi said.

The KRP would not comment on the exact time of the crime, but Nurmenniemi said the criminal activity is suspected to have continued for a longer period.

Two of the suspects are men and one is a woman. The arrests will be heard today in Oulu District Court.

The penalties for disclosing a security secret range from a minimum of four months to a maximum of four years in prison.

It was said that there is huge popular support for Finland's membership of NATO, as the polls show. Not even a referendum is needed because the polls are so clear.

Europe has no freedom of speech. This would never happen in the USA.

We found out over the last year on conflict that Ukraine's huge forces, trained to NATO standards and by every report competent and courageous, have been systematically annihilated by Russia.

Ukraine has lost almost 400k soldiers as killed and similar amount as wounded, when Ukraine loses Bakhmut, it's game over for Ukraine.

We find out from wiki that Finland has 24K active troops. For comparison, when Russia raised 300k additional troops, they got 70-80k volunteers. All are now trained and deployed. They have also regularly rotated troops through the front, so God only knows how many battle-hardened soldiers they now have, ready to close with and destroy the enemy.

Indeed. Russia could destroy Finnish military in 30 minutes and occupy entire country in 3 hours if it wanted. Finland has very tiny & pathetically weak military and most of Finnish weapons are old cold war era junk that probably doesn't even work anymore.

Finland wants to join NATO so that the USA will invest billions of dollars to upgrade Finnish weapons to follow NATO standards.

Even Finnish defense forces say Russia could easily beat Finland in a war. https://www.iltalehti.fi/uutiset/a/2015110620624791

Just like Finnish state-owned oil company which produces diesel & fuel from garbage / organic material and they're said to be even as much as 80% more cleaner but still we have to pay excess taxes on CO2 and replace our cars with electric cars that use coal for electricity.

Then he should have said "Jos sotatoimet alkavat Suomessa niin ei ole kauaa aikaa valmistautua" which is completely different from "Kuten teistä jokainen tietää niin ei ole paljoa aikaa, kun sotatoimet alkaa Suomessa".

2
Chukna 2 points ago +3 / -1

Sadly the video is in Finnish and there's no subtitles but in Finnish around 39:10 the inspector of Rescue Services Esa Ahlberg says in Finnish "Kuten teistä jokainen tietää niin ei ole paljon aikaa, kun sotatoimet alkaa Suomessa" which translates in English "All of you know very well that there is not much time when the military action starts here in Finland".

Is that the reason Finland is trying to join NATO so fast now? What do they know what isn't told to us civilians?

Russia was allowed to attack Ukraine because Ukraine started war against Russians.

Finns would just give up just like they did twice back in WW2. Finns are cowards and quitters.

Russia is not communist, Russia is capitalist country and also protector of the white race and christianity.

Sweden with 100s of no-go zones, daily shootings & grenade attacks, 1100 rapes per 1000 women. I wonder why Sweden doesn't do really well in happiness surveys?

Chukna -2 points ago +2 / -4

WEF ranks Finland often as the happiest country to push communism on us but this brand new research uses more intuitive way to measure happiness or well-being and it also compares individual US states against different countries. The new research shows that 9 of 10 happiest countries/states are in the USA while Finland that is often called the happiest country is actually way below most of the USA in ranking.

So is the US. Again, did you think your argument through?

USA is over 20 trillion dollars in debt.

There are few roads from Russia to Finland and the landscape is swamps, lakes, and forests. How would Russia even invade Finland?

The war between Finland and Russia would be over in two hours, and Russia would be the clear winner. Finland has only a tiny & pathetic military with mostly old & obsolete weapons.

Ukraine has shown us that the most modern Russian equipment can be easily defeated by Cold War surplus from NATO

Ukraine is losing the war even with all the help of NATO & USA.

Exactly and that's why Russia never militarized the border. That is why Russia now has to spend big time to do so

Russia can do that much more cheaply than the USA.

Russia is done for. They have shown that their military is decades behind NATO. They will never catch up.

Russia is clear winner of Ukraine war even against 30 NATO countries + Ukraine.

1
Chukna 1 point ago +4 / -3

How will they pay for that?

Easily. Russia is one of the most resource richest countries in the world.

They will have to massively build up their military presence. How will they pay for that?

Not as much as the USA and most of the military infrastructure already exists on the Russian side of the border.

Having NATO in Finland is a massive problem for Russia

Finland is not a threat to Russia because Finland has only a very tiny & pathetic military which means the USA is forced to have a massive military presence in Finland which will cost a lot of money for the USA and the USA is also forced to spend billions to build up new military infrastructure in Finland. It's a bigger problem for the USA than Russia.

1
Chukna 1 point ago +4 / -3

Everything is going according to plan?

Yes. Soon Finland and Sweden are NATO members and the USA is forced to spend billions to defend these two parasites. Finland has over 1000 kilometers long defenseless border with Russia which requires a massive amount of American troops to protect it. I wonder if 100,000 American troops are enough to protect that new border?

Chukna 0 points ago +4 / -4

right now bankrupting it

It's not bankrupting Russia. Russian economy is stronger than ever and it has more allies than ever before.

-2
Chukna -2 points ago +2 / -4

That's pocket change for NATO.

That's only the expected expenses upfront to make Finland's defenses follow NATO standards but after that the USA is also forced to fund Finnish & Swedish defenses every year with billions of dollars.

Russia has for years complained about NATO expanding towards Russia's borders and now you claim that they planned to have NATO expand to Russia's borders?

Yes, this is a game of chess and reverse psychology. Russia is trying to bankrupt the USA by forcing Americans pay too much on defense of itself & its allies. This is what happened in 1980s which led to the collapse of Soviet Union but the players are reversed now.

1
Chukna 1 point ago +4 / -3

At first you might think that adding two more countries into NATO is a good thing but think again... it actually means doubling the NATO-Russia border and thinning the USA's defenses in Europe. On top of that the US taxpayers are forced to pay up to $125 billion dollars to upgrade Finland's old & obsolete weapons to follow NATO standards so that will also bankrupt the USA.

This is like Reagan's star wars project in 1980s but this time the USA is the one that is collapsing.

A lot of people are going to be fucked because average wage in Finland is only $3000/month.

Chukna 6 points ago +6 / -0

Finnish media warned today that the price of kwh may reach as high $11/kwh very soon. That would mean that my electricity bill would jump from $55 to $2022. I wouldn't be able to pay that bill and I think a lot of people would go bankrupt instantly.

Is the people going to give up their homes to government to pay their electricity bills? #greatreset
