Probably a combination of weapons, and definitely including nanothermite (aka super-thermite). Several people saw pools of "literally molten steel" at Ground Zero. They report as having seen molten steel in the bottoms of elevator shafts "three, four, and five weeks" after the attack.
Mr. President sir, we had enough leftover NANOTHERMITE to rig the 3rd building, BUT we forgot to assign a "plane" to hit it... However most of the population is so heavily fluoridated it shouldn't be a problem.
