You misspelled it in the title, it's Californium-252 (Cf-252). The main reason for the price for Cf-252 being so high is the fact that there is a limited global supply of it. There are only two of these reactors, one in US the other in Russia, that produce Cf-252, worldwide. And the production process for Cf-252 can take up to two years.
