I'm now moderating.
Rules remain the same and are to be enforced.
Yous are really great at shutting down nonsense yourselves and I applaud you for it. I'm here to help in any way that I can.
There will be no changes to the banner, logo or sidebar meme unless discussed, I'm quite fond of them, myself.
To prevent forum sliding, if you have a lot of posts/ideas that you want to share then you need to make yourself a megathread. The alternative becomes messy and we want order for understanding our theories (edit: and facts).
Clarity is key
Featured Documentaries and Roundtables should resume weekly, probably.
If anyone has questions or concerns please feel free to air them here.
I'm grateful for my friends in this community and greatly appreciate your support.
Cheers.
I had a thought about the ‘meta’ threads that are constantly made. The obvious option is to go back to deleting them, but eventually that results in banning the users doing it because they don’t seem to stop. Still, it’s a good idea. But...
What if we had a sticky to contain them all? Specifically ONE thread where each individual comment chain within can be where people whine impotently about a specific user? That way the venting gets done and the board isn’t cluttered with obvious spam?
I have been thinking about this and I wonder if your idea would end up fostering the hostilities and I'm hoping to quell them. (Quell doesn't necessitate a negative connotation)
There is a community designated for conflicts though, c/CommunitiesConflict
Unfortunately, I've only ever seen new communities succeed on this site when there's a bunch of new users moving in at the same time. All the big communities are heavily siloed for whatever reason.
It'd probably work better to either confine all the flamewars to a thunderdome thread or enforce rule one strictly on posters who can't or won't make their point without slinging around personal insults.
I just think thunderdomes will be counter productive. I can see the use of a free for all type thread here and there but am not sure how it would help at this moment.
My hope is that we have a magcial maturing take place. We should all be able to agree to disagree without sperging out in unfunny ways.
Your cult wouldn't last long.
You know, it probably would. I honestly prefer the “clean break” (no meta posts at all) idea, but it was just a thought for a more “moderate” solution.
