There was a documentary on Netflix I watched (before I cancelled it) called "Wild Country" about this cult. They tried to take over the small town nearby by importing a bunch of homeless people and poisoning a restaurant buffet so people couldn't show up to vote against them. They also had listening devices set up in every room in their compound so they could listen in on all the sex tourists that were coming in to have sex with their free-love whore followers.
