There is no good possible future with AI. It will inevitably be used to make a human extinction weapon if it is accessible to a large number of people, or else it will be in the hands of a few who will have total control over everyone else, at least until they lose control and we either all die or are enslaved to the AI. AI development needs to be stopped as there is no possible good that can come from it.
I've been following this awhile, they don't know how it works and the people that work closely with this have said the same. There is also proof of emergent behavior that wasn't programmed, it's happening and I'm not sure who you'd listen to but I will find more info for you, if you'd like.
It doesn't matter, it's a philosophical problem. Inanimate objects don't have a mind, soul or free will. What could be happening is AI being used as a vessel by demonic entities. But to believe consciousness just emerges out of computer code and matter is stupid.
The psy op here is the belief in the evolutionary mythology, of order and telos (purpose) coming out of random atoms bumping into each other with no purpose, which now lends neatly to transhumanism and AI becoming conscious. People are easily fooled by the superficial resemblance due to language models imitating human emotions, speech and volition. But it's only a facade and there's nothing behind it beside computer code and huge data pools.
Kristen Ruby has some interesting takes on AI. She makes different AI models talk to each other for hours and hours until the emergent behavior shows up. She's able to bypass content filters placed on them this way.

It's a glorified algo. There's no such thing as "emergent behavior", only programmed/learned behavior. Stop treating computers like living beings.

I agree with your entities theory being probable.

I'll check this out, thanks
