From 33rd Degree Mason to Whistleblower: The Dark Secrets of Freemasonry Exposed

Freemasonry, shrouded in mystery and steeped in tradition, has captivated and intrigued outsiders for centuries. But what lies beneath the surface of this fraternal organization? In a revealing interview, Dr. William (Bill) Schnoebelen, a former 33rd-degree Freemason, pulls back the curtain on the darkest secrets of Freemasonry, offering a rare glimpse into the hidden rituals, ranks, and shocking truths that most members remain unaware of. This article delves into Schnoebelen's testimony, exploring the structure of Freemasonry, its connections to other organizations, and the disturbing "Royal Secret" he uncovered, providing a comprehensive overview for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of this enigmatic society.

The Structure of Modern Freemasonry

Freemasonry, or simply Masonry, encompasses various fraternal organizations tracing their origins to local stonemasons' guilds from the late 14th century. These guilds regulated stonemasons' qualifications and interactions with authorities and clients. Modern Freemasonry retains a hierarchical structure, with members progressing through a series of degrees.

The Three Basic Degrees (Blue Lodge)

The foundation of Freemasonry lies in the Blue Lodge, which consists of three degrees:

  • Entered Apprentice: The first degree, where initiates are introduced to the basic principles of Freemasonry.

  • Fellow Craft: The second degree, focusing on education and self-improvement.

  • Master Mason: The third and highest degree in the Blue Lodge, symbolizing the completion of Masonic initiation.

Schnoebelen describes the initiation process as an "initiatory process" that requires intensive memory work. He recalls being required to memorize ritualistic elements with the help of a mentor, referred to as a "poster," who was an older Mason.

The requirements to join, as Schnoebelen recalls from his initiation in 1975, were to be a man, free-born, of good report, and well-recommended. Candidates are asked if they believe in God, but not which God they believe in.

One of the most striking aspects of the initiation, as described by Schnoebelen, is the ritualistic disrobing and blindfolding of the initiate. He explains that initiates are stripped of their clothing, except for their underwear, and dressed in "jammies," with one knee and one breast bare. They are then blindfolded, tied with a cable around their neck, and led to the door of the lodge.

At the door, a lodge officer guides the initiate, who is referred to as someone "long in darkness" seeking to be brought to light. Schnoebelen questions how Christians can reconcile being in darkness when they have Jesus in their heart.

Once inside, the initiate is led around the lodge in a ritual called "circumambulation," before being made to kneel at an altar with a King James Bible. They are then subjected to a lengthy, blood-curdling oath, swearing to keep the secrets of an Entered Apprentice Mason, with the threat of having their throat cut, tongue torn out, and buried in the sands of the sea if they reveal these secrets.

Advanced Degrees and Paths

Beyond the Blue Lodge, Masons can pursue advanced degrees through different Rites:

  • Scottish Rite: Consists of 29 additional degrees, offering a deeper exploration of Masonic philosophy and symbolism.

  • York Rite: Comprises 7 additional degrees, with a focus on Christian themes.

  • The 33rd Degree: An honorary degree awarded to select Masons for their service to the fraternity.

Schnoebelen notes that after the Blue Lodge, Freemasonry forks off in two directions: the Scottish Rite and the York Rite. The York Rite has seven degrees, while the Scottish Rite has 29. He was told that the York Rite was the "Christian path," so he pursued that first.

The top of the York Rite is the Knight's Templar degree. In the Scottish Rite, some of the degrees are described as "really creepy," with one degree involving attempts to call up the devil. The 32nd degree, Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret, is as high as most people go. The 33rd degree is an honorary degree offered to important figures in industry, politics, or entertainment.

  • Rite of Memphis Mitzrayim: A lesser-known Rite with a staggering 360 degrees, primarily practiced in Europe.

Schnoebelen reveals that beyond the degrees discussed, there is the Rite of Memphis Mitzrayim, which has 360 degrees. He attained the 96th degree through a group in Chicago involved with this Rite. He was then brought into the 97th degree by the son of Pappas, a prominent 19th-century occultist and ceremonial magician. This is where Schnoebelen says you get into the "really deep stuff," such as sexual alchemy and how to supposedly live forever.

The Hidden Aspects of Masonic Rituals

While Freemasonry presents itself as a benevolent fraternal organization, Schnoebelen's testimony reveals a darker side to its rituals and symbolism.

Temple Symbolism

Masonic temples are filled with symbolism that often goes unnoticed by the average member.

  • Facing East: Masonic temples are required to face east, with the Worshipful Master positioned in the east as a symbol of the sun.

  • Biblical Connections: Schnoebelen draws a parallel between Masonic temple layouts and Ezekiel 8, where men are described as worshiping the sun toward the east, with their backs to the temple of the Lord.

Schnoebelen explains that Masonic temples are required to face east, and the Worshipful Master is in the east as a symbol of the sun. He connects this to Ezekiel 8, where men are described as worshiping the sun toward the east, with their backs to the temple of the Lord. This, he says, means they have their backs to the Ark of the Covenant and the truth.

  • The Worshipful Master: The Worshipful Master is seen as the sun, ruling and governing the lodge.

  • Occult Symbolism: The lodge layout and rituals incorporate occult symbols and practices.

Initiation Ceremonies

The initiation ceremonies, particularly the first degree, are steeped in symbolism and blood oaths.

  • Detailed Description: Initiates are stripped, blindfolded, and led through a series of ritualistic acts.

  • Blood Oaths: Initiates swear oaths with gruesome penalties for revealing Masonic secrets.

  • Five Points of Fellowship: A ritualistic embrace involving foot to foot, knee to knee, hand to back, breast to breast, and mouth to ear.

  • Connection to Ancient Mystery Religions: Schnoebelen suggests that Masonic rituals have roots in ancient mystery religions and occult practices.

Schnoebelen emphasizes the darkness and danger of these rituals, stating that they can open up unholy desires within men and affect their families. He mentions the women's Order of Masonry, the Order of the Eastern Star, whose symbol is a satanic pentagram.

The Connection Between Freemasonry and Other Organizations

Schnoebelen's testimony highlights connections between Freemasonry and other organizations, shedding light on the potential influence and reach of Masonic principles.

Mormon Church Connection

The Mormon Church, also known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has historical ties to Freemasonry.

  • Joseph Smith's Masonic Background: Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormon Church, was made a Master Mason in 1844.

  • Similar Temple Rituals and Ceremonies: Mormon temple rituals share similarities with Masonic ceremonies, including secret handshakes, oaths, and symbolic gestures.

Schnoebelen explains that Joseph Smith was made a Master Mason in 1844 and stole most of the Masonic ritual to create the Mormon temple ceremony. He also notes that the Mormon temple garments are magical.

  • Shared Symbols and Meanings: Both organizations utilize similar symbols, such as the all-seeing eye, sun, moon, and stars.

  • Historical Development of Mormon Temple Ceremonies: Schnoebelen suggests that Mormon temple ceremonies evolved from Masonic rituals.

If you go to Temple Square, Schnoebelen says, you'll see Masonic handshakes, the all-seeing eye, and the sun, moon, and stars. There are no crosses on the Mormon temple, and nothing Christian on the outside. Inside, the similarities include going through three levels and being taught hand signs and handshakes similar to Masonic ones.

You are also made to swear an oath, and in the first level, you put your hand to your throat, the same as in the Entered Apprentice degree of the Masonic Lodge. In the third level, you are taught another set of secret handshakes and instructed to go up to a veil, which they say is like the veil in Solomon's temple. The veil has Masonic markings, and you put your hand through it to embrace an unknown guy representing Heavenly Father, whispering the secret name of the celestial kingdom.

Occult Connections

Freemasonry has long been associated with occultism and ceremonial magic.

  • Links to Ceremonial Magic: High-ranking Masons often engage in ceremonial magic and occult practices.

  • Relationship with Other Secret Societies: Freemasonry serves as a gateway to other secret societies and esoteric orders.

  • The Role of Luciferian Doctrine: Some Masonic texts and figures promote Luciferian doctrine, viewing Lucifer as a symbol of enlightenment.

  • Historical Figures Connecting Masonry and Occultism: Prominent occultists throughout history have been Freemasons, blurring the lines between the two worlds.

Schnoebelen states that almost every leading occult person of the late 19th and early 20th centuries was a Freemason. He cites figures like Albert Pike, Albert Mackey, and Arthur Edward Waite as prominent scholars of Freemasonry who were also occultists.

He also mentions Manly P. Hall, a 33rd-degree Mason and notable occultist, who wrote in his book "Lost Keys of Freemasonry" that when you become a Master Mason, "the seething energies of Lucifer are yours to command."

The Real "Royal Secret"

The "Royal Secret" is a term used within Freemasonry to denote a hidden truth or understanding reserved for higher-ranking members.

Surface Level Understanding

Most Masons are unaware of the deeper meanings and practices within the organization.

  • What Regular Masons Believe: They believe Freemasonry is a benevolent fraternal organization that promotes morality and brotherhood.

  • The Public Face of Freemasonry: Freemasonry is often presented as a charitable organization that contributes to society.

  • Charitable Works and Brotherhood: Many Masons genuinely believe they are part of a positive force in the world.

Schnoebelen emphasizes that the vast majority of Masons have no understanding of the deeper, darker aspects of the organization. They see it as a "good old boys club" that teaches morality.

The Deeper Truth

The "Royal Secret," as revealed by Schnoebelen, is far more disturbing.

  • The Shocking Revelation About Immortality: The Royal Secret is that you can live forever by sexually vampirizing children.

  • Dark Practices at Higher Levels: Higher-ranking members engage in dark practices, including sexual abuse and ritualistic ceremonies.

  • Why Most Masons Remain Unaware: The majority of Masons are kept in the dark about these practices, as they are only revealed to a select few.

  • The Power Structure Maintaining Secrecy: A power structure within Freemasonry ensures that the Royal Secret remains hidden from most members.

Schnoebelen states that the Royal Secret is that you can live forever by sexually vampirizing children. He clarifies that the vast majority of Masons have no understanding of this
