Russia never intended to take all of Ukraine. They wanted that land route to their naval forces. They knew they didn't have the troops to hold more. Ukraine is wasting lives trying to regain land when Russia is just fine where they are.

The war isn't about Ukraine. It was Russia preparing for what's to come.
