I've heard it rumored on the internets that the sun used to be more yellow and now is more white and unpleasant in the afternoon. Even as late as 4:30pm. I'm not sure, but I can say in the small town I'm in right now, the afternoon light is just plain blinding. I really don't know what it is. It does feel like very white light.

Same observation here. The sun certainly feels like it has grown in intensity. At least for me.
I am more inclined that it's the earth's magnetic field weakening and letting in more sun rays.
Not sure if you read it already but someone here linked: Earth Changes and the Human Cosmic Connection. I think that book is highly relevant.
I remember the sun being bright yellow as a kid.
I also remember our solar system being on the edge of the milky way in Sagittarius and now it's closer to center in Orion.
There is nothing wrong with the sun....stop it.
