It was definitely a deal, just it is not clear what this deal was about.
And so on. If it was Israel/US/UK deal with Russia, then Assad participated too, hence no any Syrian Army resistance.
Also interesting that it was Assad who previously didn't allow Russian forces in Syria to shoot down Israel planes bombing Damask. Our guys was ready to do it without any problems, you might recall loud Israel whinning about Russian AD locks on their planes, and it surfaced finally that it was Assad who didn't gave his mandatory green light for that.
If, and it is big IF, that it was kind of attempt to pull Syria from under the US sanctions pressure and make US/Israel rethoric about Syria completely void, then it could have some sense.
Also, interesting that Syria don't have an IMF debt at all. It was paid out with some help of Russia from inside IMF few years ago. It will be interesting to see if Syria will loan money from IMF soon.
And many other things, that just don't fit into any more or less solid theory.
Exactly. Something strange happening, and it is still completely unclear is it for bad or for good or who win or lose.
Will see, how things turn out, and who will benefit eventually.
Makes sense, thanks. I'm also waiting to see what the deal fallout is. Something big was agreed on. Now, whether agreements are kept and what's the potential downfall of that... we'll see - in actions.
Also I recall a very interesting incident that looks completely unrelated, but who knows...
Some time ago, Iran shelled and possibly invaded Pakistan territory occupied by some rebels, and Pakistan shelled and possibly invaded coupled Iranian territory occupied by same rebels. There was huge celebration in Israel and Western media about start of Iran-Pakistan war, but it was quickly memoryholed when this eventually ended with shaking hands between Iran and Pakistan government officials and end of that rebels who annoy both Pakistan and Iran.
Pakistan and Iran, at first look, do exactly what that rebels was created for, but it is obvious now that it was joint Iran-Pakistan joint operation of mopping up some Western-backed point of irritation. And West could not have any say in that, because their foreve narrative of "Evil aothoritarian government kill their owns citizens for their love for freedom" and similar shit could not be aplied. Because from their point of view, "one authoritarian government attacked territory of other authoritarian government", and when they finally got what happened and how they were cheated it was too late, especially after their celebrations of a new war beginning.
A have to admit that this tiny joint Iran-Pakistan operation was very clever and wise. They outsmarted Western cabal completely and undoubtedly and even whitout any chance for Western cabal to somehow benefit from it.
Pure speculation - imagine that Turkey in the past years got full control over that Western terrorists in Syria. As "NATO member", "Assad enemy", "US ally", whatever. Also, some time ago Iran destroyed Mossad HQ in Iraq's Kurdish territory coupled with Kurdis territory in Syria, possibly cutting Israel influence on Kurds. There was also intense contacts between Turkey, Iran, Syria and other regional forces on the different questions from Palestine support to common economic questions. What if current situation is another use of aforementioned strategy used by Iran and Pakistan?
While West and Israel celebrate their "great victory" in "Assad must go" spectacle, things are go in completely another direction.
And I also noticed that Jewish Russian-speaking political bloggers was first to push narrative in Russian segment of internet that Assad is a traitor who betrayed Syrian people and Russia and all that stuff. Normal people in that sphere mostly scratching head and admit that things looks extremely weird.
In the speculation above, Assad doesn't look like traitor. On the opposite, he looks like leader who agreed to step down and abdicate peacefully for the greater good or goal or whatever.
Also, here circulating info that almost all Syrian government officials up to and including minister deputies and all stuff continue to work as Syrian governemnt and do their daily jobs as usual. Even ministers who supposedly will be replaced by Western terrorists by announced list of persons (one is ex-minister of past Assad government, meanwhile), are still mostly in place.
In any case, things are becoming more and more interesting in ME.
