Answer to question 1. There probably isn't an edge because the idea of a giant sun and huge planets and infinite universe is all institutionalized bullshit.

Where I live, on the beach, there is an island about 5 km away. (thanks google maps). The horizon is slightly behind that, when viewed from the beach. I will be generous and say that the observed horizon is 6km (and also that the horizon actually exists).

No, the curvature was not needed for those bridges, or any bridges. Rail roads, Suez canal, doesn't matter. all the same. Talk to a surveyor, ask them if the curve of earth is ever used, no. It's not. Ask a pilot or middle guidance specialist. They are told to assume the earth is flat and stationary. Why? Because if pilots adjusted elevation to account for curve, they would crash into the ground.
Trust me, determining the earth is flat, for yourself, is an intellectual challenge. You have to apply your knowledge of physics, math, and common sense.
