That's not what the Church teaches. God is life. God created everything and it was good. Therefore death is the moving away from God which only took place when Adam and Eve disobeyed God through their own free will. The Garden of Eden was paradise and there's no death in paradise. There was no death and no evil before the fall period. The first death of a living being was the animal that was used for it's skin to make their garments. The fall of man changed the whole nature of the world - it was cosmic in scope. This is the dogmatic teaching of both the Catholic and the Orthodox Churches and it's been so since the first ecumenical councils.
Again, not what the Church teaches. This was a common heresy committed by the early gnostics. I believe Origen was excommunicated because of his free interpretation of Genesis. This may fly with gnostics, kabbalists, Jungians and Jordan Peterson but it's not a Christian interpretation.
Where's the evidence of that? Is this real science at all or just Carl DeGrasse Dawkins story time for scientismo goobers? Has this been demonstrated using the scientific method? Why would a Christian take this wild speculation about what happened billions of years ago (which is based on pure faith and baseless assumptions of the nature of the universe btw) and prefer it to God's own revelation?
You're doing freestyle gnostic new-agey interpretation of Scripture and that's why I called you protestant. As a Catholic you're supposed to follow the teachings and dogmas of the RC Church as the sole authority on theological matters and correct your views when they diverge.
You're simply wrong on what the church teaches, and what it doesn't. It does not teach a literal interpretation of Genesis as necessary.
Origin was heretical because he denied original sin.
I am not a materialist, neither, however, am I a Biblical literalist. There is a possibility to be a Christian in this way, and a good one.
I listened to the video. It was good. I don't disagree at all that that demons pretend to be aliens or that a lot of this alien stuff is a pretext for people to look to the sky for answers when it's rather sitting in the pews they need. That said, it's a weak case that the alien stuff is setting us up for the antichrist pretending to be an alien. And Fr. was talking about this in 1982 like the end was night. No man knows the hour.
I red on how that problem was perceived by the Western Church and indeed Augustine of Hippo has a similar view on creation and original sin as what you said - I guess there is a big difference between RC and Orthodoxy on that matter. I am aware RC is geared towards natural theology and nominalism due to influence by Augustine and Aquinas.
The Eastern fathers like St Basil rejected allegorical interpretation as did most in the Orthodox tradition. Here's a great compilation of the recent patristic views delving in evolution too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0sdPLJO3cE
You're thinking about Pelagius. Origen was condemned for teaching God was incorporeal as well as his heterodox views on sexuality and excessively allegorical hermeneutic.
We're living in the end times and that's evident by the many signs that have came to pass. All saints agree on that and this is what Jesus and the apostles teach us in scripture. But it's true we don't know how long the end times will last - could be 100 or 1000 years. Once the Temple is rebuilt the events of the apocalypse will unravel in a matter of years.
I will watch the youtube video, thanks.
We could be living in the end times, or we could not be. Satan has had a free hand lately, but that means nothing really. What I think you mean, is that we are living in the last age.
They specifically call it the end times like this prophecy by elder Paisios of Athos (I've posted it here), though I agree we may not be in it but on the verge of it, as the elder says. The end times will unravel when the prophecy of the Temple is fulfilled and the Antichrist and his prophet are revealed:
