When I was in school, I was taught that the CIA handles foreign intellligence operations and the FBI handles domestic criminal investigations. That is because communist regimes use secret police to conduct intelligence operations on their own citizens which would be gravely wrong in a free society.

Now the feds are intelligence agencies, and they're working against political dissidents. Government propaganda against U.S. citizens has been legalized. They are not investigating legitimate crimes, but rather acting as politicized agents provocateur. That's why this place is crawling with them.
