Conspiracy theorists believe that was all to deceive normies to convince them and gain their cooperation. It would appear so on the surface but that was never the case. The underlying deception was of the awakened. They were deceived as to how normies thought. The normies were ever only following as the authorities instructed.

The nexus here is that the pretense is no longer necessary. "They" are dropping it because, essentially, everyone has already chosen a side. They aren't changing anyone's consciousness with Their infowar and They have much more pressing problems.

As an analogy, fancy uniforms and flair can make your army look badass and intimidating, but when it's down to knives and rifle butts in a muddy trench, you become way less interested in that. To flip the analogy back and wind this all up, this helicopter crash is like a rifle butt to the face. Neither the giver nor the receiver will persist in thinking anyone's going to surrender.
