Cash shortages are imperative to CBDC social credit -- but lets not forget removing the plastic cards that can be qualified as payment. Visa, MC, Amex are moving to drop physical cards entirely. (media.scored.co)

Between the increasing move to digital ID's and digital payment, it looks like I will have to switch to a flip phone and eventually go back to having a landline.

You are suggesting those things will work in this hypothetical back tracking. Landlines are already being killed off as the infrastructure ages out and no need to update it. Flip phones will require networks that will not be compliant as each gen is killed off.

You will only have three choices --

  1. comply and be a slave
  2. have the bare minimum less and be a slave
  3. fight to the death

Land lines are being phased out. I have one, but most new residences are not even wired for them

My house is older than dirt. It still has a landline, and the area I live in is quite remote and slow to pick up on current tech. I know plenty of people with landlines.
