Fairy tale time. They came through the portal, made a deal with the world governments and gave us AI. Of course they did, who could have predict we would have generative self-learning algorithms 10 years ago? Except... everyone involved in IT. AI is a is fake and gay because it's not intelligence, at least not in the way human intelligence works (which is through consciousness and will).
The whole confusion arises because a lot of people are stupid enough to believe they themselves are nothing but matter and electricity and their intelligence is just a complex organic algorithm called a brain. So of course it makes perfect sense that if we could replicate all the neuro-pathways and infrastructure we could built machines just like us. It's a fundamental worldview error causing this idiocy.
I can consider CERN opening a portal to a demonic dimension, but the rest reads like old sci-fi narratives and putting AI in the equation is just bad writing. The problem is AI is not spectacular enough and it's definitely not the leap they make it sound to be. It's mostly hype.
