As for technology - every possible technology should be absolutely open and accessible for anybody. It's not that inbreed arrogant and ignorant elites technologies created for. Elites have no any rights on any technology, nether they have any right to supress and prohibit them. Technologies belong to whole humanity, not to elites.
Access to technologies is like an ultimate gun that equalize people. But elites are afraid of that. They, being completely insane, psychotic and ignorant want to be the only one who can use and control all modern technologies, while telling others fairy tales about "what if some insne neighbour create Godzilla". Elites are most insane and human hating beings here, not people. It is not for elites to talk anything about "safety" or "what is some crazy..." at all. Elites are the only ones who really should be deprived of any technology to ensure people safety.
And that startup, hardly would have been able to do anything more than glowing plant, really, if succeed at all. The danger for elites was promise of that startup about public access to technology currently available only to elites and their BigPharma/BigAgriculture pocket monsters. They could not allow that.
