Christianity is based on the OT too. In fact Jesus identifies Himself as YHWH: "Before Abraham was, I am" and "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
Jesus was a jew. The jews turned against their God and messiah and crucified Him. That's the jews we're dealing now - the true ones have converted and assimilated to Christianity long time ago:
"Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee."
Reading the Bible is not the same as understanding it.
