Joes reaction, I think this is the dumbest I have ever seen him look. Reminds me of homer simpson for some reason.
Anyway, they bring up some valid points, but for sure the second part is spliced. Its literally one frame, and the next. And this is the kinda shit eggheads did because they were trying to gauge exactly how powerful these things were. Create entire fake towns to see what it would do.
If you look it up, the answers are pretty convincing. And ill tell you why. I could be biased, after all they produced alot of the fuel used for these tests in piketon ohio.
The cameras were built into concrete towers, which kinda makes sense. You might think bullshit at first. But you dont understand that there is a fundamental difference in the way nuclear explosions work and conventional explosions work. I think alot of the destructive force is from the heat/xrays/gamma rays.
5.04 An examination of the areas in Japan affected by nuclear explosions (§ 2.24) shows that small masonry buildings were engulfed by the oncoming pressure wave and collapsed completely. Light structures and residences were totally demolished by blast and subsequently destroyed by fire. Industrial buildings of steel construction were denuded of roofing and siding, and only twisted frames remained. Nearly everything at close range, except structures and smokestacks of strong reinforced concrete, was destroyed. Some buildings leaned away from ground zero as though struck by a wind of stupendous proportions. Telephone poles were snapped off at ground level, as in a hurricane, carrying the wires down with them. Large gas holders were ruptured and collapsed by the crushing action of the blast wave.
They also explain teh splice, because they were testing if the cameras worked. Why would you take more than a few seconds of film, if you were just seeing if the reels were functioning correctly and threaded properly.
If you havent watched the video I linked about the piketon site, which is called the portsmouth site intentionally to obfuscate the location to any potential enemies in the cold war. Funny enough alot of my dreams as a child involved nuclear explosions, I find that so odd.
And another thing I feel compelled to mention is you can see in the videos that they were obviously at a distance pretty far from the blasts, even the metal radio towers in the clip sway just a bit. A concrete tower of reinforced camera might shake, but they proably built riggings to counter force that. In the original article I linked, it mentions that one of the guys who was on the camera teams involved in this claims many people on the crew died at young ages from what he believed was being to close to the explosions.
My first thought is sure maybe they faked the first couple, but there is plenty of evidence to prove these weapons exist. Its a shame mankinds greatest achievements have been in the pursuit of death and destruction. Says alot about our species.

Hope we never have to find out lol.
