Note: I'm certainly not one of those "The Bible predicted it all!" people. I just find it startling to think this was written down 2000 years ago.
The verse I found shocking was Matthew 10:34 (and repeated in Luke 12:51):
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
I wasn't shocked that Jesus said it, because I understand what he means, but I wondered, "Where is everybody getting all this 'Prince of Peace' stuff? Are any of them even reading the Bible?" Guess not, huh?

It makes more sense when you realize it's a generalized instruction manual for building and destroying civilizations on earth.
The Bible didn't predict the fall--it facilitated it.
