I use a hammer for nails, and a pair of plyers for pipes. I use an A10 to help ground troops and destroy tanks, and an F16 for air superiority and maybe helping ground troops, which is like using a hammer for a paperweight. It still works. The F35, well, half of them can't even get airborne.
I guess my point was more along the lines of you need things like the f35 (maybe not that specific airframe) in order to be able to leverage a10s. But take the whole point to an extreme- you could have gyrocopters with snipers on them if you sufficiently owned the skies
Seriously the A10 is the workhorse. Though it makes no sense in scenarios where you don't already have air superiority (it can't dog fight)
