It appears that the exodus from Babylon spilled into Canaan and from there, diverged. So yes, that fits the narrative as well. Also showing the Babylonian theology to be an early 'original' belief. This included sacrifice at the Gala. See 'orgy with golden calf when Moses comes down from the mountain' for details.
