Yeah, it shows that "we the humanity" are infinitely gullible, easily distractible and just plain-dumb-as-bag-of-rocks.
How did we come so?
I read some of the older literature and people were much slower in terms of coming to a conclusion, so they actually contemplated, thought / felt about things deeply (instead of just adopting pre-given opinions) and in general were much more keen and astute observers.
I guess all the dumbing down / poisoning / brainwashing / propaganda has just worked so well. And I don't expect to have escaped it myself, but at least I notice it has happened and am somewhat aware of it.

Biggest change I've seen is attention spans.
People can't sit still or have long drawn out thoughts without fidgeting for a phone
