I don't buy any mainstream media/gov't propaganda narratives, I don't trust the Jews either. I've heard of this guy before, and while it's true he brought about great changes in Jewish dogma, I have no way to gauge that against original Judaism, nor against the massive changes which had already occurred in Judaism over the millennia prior to this rabbi.

I'm just wondering how you find people in the real world to talk to about this stuff. I try to steer conversations away from politics IRL because I get irritated quickly with idiots who don't know what they're talking about.

1700’s Kabala and Talmud, the Lurian Kabbalah of which Sabbatai Zevi was a follower, in no small measure prepared the ground for the Sabbaean movement and the messianic ideology for Jews. Sabbatai Zevi developed visions and conjuring tricks and people came to believe that he was the messiah and he became known as the Sacred Lion.

At the height of the movement Sabbatai Zevi and one million Jews following him, mostly Ashenazi and some Sephardim Jews. He lead them all into practicing this form of Lurian Kabbalah and people all believed that the was becoming the Messiah. He went to Jerusalem for acceptance but the Sephardic Rabbi would not accept him, they feared him, as his movement was so big. The Turkish Calif. (As in Caliphate?) had him arrested. He was forced at sword point to become a Muslim or die so he chose to become Muslim. They though this would cause hi to loose his following but he didn’t. The story does not end there. He left and he told his followers that his Muslim conversion was not a genuine conversion, but apostasy.
