Eh, they've always been. For example, /r/conspiracy was created by the admins to keep 9/11 conspiracies theories quarantined from the rest of Reddit. It what drove Aaron Swartz (RIP) out of the company. He was miserable about what was happening with the company/website.
Wasnt always like that.
There was a time when we could discuss whatever we wanted, which is what aaron wanted.
It was spetz and the other person who just seen a opportunity to make money, alot of it.
Others like ghislaine who saw other uses for it... you have to wonder how many people were groomed with this site.
Reddit was not formed on a "free speech" foundation beloved of Swartz. He was pushed onto Spez and Alexis Ohanian by Paul Graham with "if you want more seed money, you have to take Swartz and call him a co-founder" and they resented him.
That's why Spez never eulogizes about him or mentions him or says "it's what Aaron would want".
