It may have just been a clever move by Putin to see how Ukraine and NATO react. Who knows, maybe the CIA said to Prigozhin "here is 6.2 billion dollars, there was an accounting error in DC in regards to Ukraine aid ... take the money, just get rid of Putin". And Prigozhin, like a good friend shared the info with Putin, who agreed. They split the money, Prigozhin goes to Belarus to be in charge with the nukes. Everybody is happy, except the CIA ... but, they're used to such results. After all they're mostly dealing with criminals anyway.
