But pie charts are meant to compare percentages of a whole. You can't cherry pick which pieces of pie to include and which to leave out. If you label the chart "United States Deaths" it has to include deaths from all causes in the United States.
Pretend it says “from wars”
If it said "United States Deaths From Wars" then it would make no sense including abortion deaths. I maintain that it is an ill-conceived graph that drives a fair point, but does so dishonestly. Instead of allowing the reader to draw his own conclusion it bludgeons him with the statistician's own view.
Wrong, the key to the image is the declarations it makes.
There is no requirement to provide all deaths, it is contextual and provides more than enough information to ratify it.
