Thanks. I read something about that. Also, the leaders of the Catholic Church (Pope Francis) and the leader of the Orthodox Church (Patriarch Kirill) met for the first time in 1000 years in Cuba in Feb 2016. That was just before Patriarch Kirill departed, escorted by a large Russian Federation naval armada, for Antarctica.
The same year, few months later, US Secretary of State John Kerry went to Antarctica. I think it was right after the US presidential elections in Nov.
This is what I read online on the "couple" of sites that managed to stay listed in google search.
I came across a "Debunk" that claimed that russia was going to use this weapon against the west.

I do find it interesting that people did die on that day, and there was indeed some secret construction happening at that time that locals were protesting. Certainly one of those things that makes you go hmmm.
